I would be remiss if I didn’t admit that this well-received monthly feature seems to have fallen off Flashfree post list. So, as of today, I am officially reviving it. Rather than list four month’s worth of highlights, I’ve decided to pick and choose a few favourites so you don’t miss anything. Still, my mind isn’t yours’ so feel free to peruse the monthly archives.
Without further ado…
- Female viagra hits a new low in the bedroom. Hypoactive sexual desire disorder is real to many women, who suffering from reduced libido and interest. But can a pill address the underlying issues, such as emotions, relationships, environment and hormones?
- HRT – Wait a moment! Stopping hormone replacement might be bad for your menopause. In fact, it appears that symptoms might suddenly appear out of nowhere.
- When it comes to calcium, think moderation. Women need calcium and vitamin D as they age. But too much of a good thing may be dangerous.
- That ole glass ceiling still isn’t cracked. Want a raise? Some individuals would have you believe that you should let your femininity drive your bargaining.
- HRT – Ask the hard questions. Are you considering starting hormone replacement? Be sure that you know the facts.
- It’s about time…weight, that is. The time of day may determine how much weight you gain as much as what you are eating.

Is it already February? This year is going to fly by. Into the tens and closer to Spring! Let’s take a look at what January brought in terms of menopause and midlife:
- Needling your way into the ’10s- ACUFLASH is back in a big way, with more data showing the power of acupuncture for alleviating hot flashes.
- Wednesday Bubble: What’s black and red and so not over? – Are black cohosh and red clover safe and effective for menopausal symptoms? Take a look at this comparison to other treatments.
- Got ‘tude? – Leave those negative thoughts and impressions behind. They may be affecting how you experience menopause and even worsen symptoms.
- When it comes to physical fitness, forget the hormones –If you’re taking hormones to stave off the physical decline of old age, you’re wasting your time.

- A doc and a diva walk up to a rooftop – Red not-so-hot Mama’s founder takes the conversation to the rooftop and pow wows with a doc about a hormonal patch. No, this is way too good to make up.

The Roundup: 2009
I had originally written a December Roundup like months prior. And it mysteriously disappeared into the black hole of writing, socks and earrings.
Taking a page from the book of “stir things up,” I decided to shed this year by posting some of my favorites. So, without further interruption, I bring you my top five of 2009.
